Happy Birthday, K-maw!

Happy Birthday K-Maw!

The first order of business is to give a little love to K-Maw on her 26th birthday! Mommy and Daddy got to spend Saturday night in Austin with K-Maw, Adam and the whole crew. Details on the evening are provided below!
A Night out in the A-TX!

A few weeks ago we overheard Mommy in her daily talks with K-Maw mention that there was a big party in Austin that they were thinking about attending. Now, those of you who keep up with the blog know that we are not quite ready to sleep through the night. This means that Mommy and Daddy can be up 1, 2, 3 or even 4 times a night with us. For this reason, we decided that Mommy and Daddy needed a night off. We got on the phone with Gran and Granddad and set up the babysitters so that Mommy and Daddy could go have fun. They left about 2:30 on Saturday afternoon, but we were having so much fun with Gran and Granddad that we barely even noticed.

After Daddy got back he gave us a recap of how the night went:
The weather was pretty rough on the ride over to Austin. We knew this was a possibility, but Daddy can do anything so we weren't worried. It took about 3 hours to get into Austin. Mommy and Daddy met up with A-Maw and Lauren (pronounced "Law-ren") at the Fairfield Inn and Suites Austin Central. The hotel was perfect! Lauren had used points so it was free for Mommy and Daddy! After an hour of so of primping, the ladies were ready to go and everyone headed to Santa Rita's for dinner.

Upon arrival, they were greeted by Big Phil and Ronna, John Friesen and his girlfried, Katie Friesen and her boyfried, Kristen Friesen and her boyfriend, K-Maw and Adam, Leane and Hunter Haglund, Laura Friesen, Brandi and Ainsley. Dinner and plenty of adult beverages ensued. About 9:30 Big Phil cracked the whip and said that we had to get to Esther's Follies immediately or they were going to give away their reservation. Everybody jumped into the cars and headed to downtown Austin.

Esther's Follies is a comedy show on 6th Street in Downtown Austin. Basically they make fun of current events, political figures, celebrities and people in the audience. There is also a big portion of the show dedicated to magic. The show was amazing and everyone really enjoyed it. The best part was when Daddy got picked to go up on stage and start his acting career. He has basically been strutting around the house all day claiming that he is going to start acting.

After the show everyone went to another local establishment and hung out. Mommy and Daddy got tired early and headed back to the hotel to get six straight hours of sleep!

Mommy and Daddy wanted us to send a special thanks to Big Phil and Ronna for organizing the evening in the A-TX!

Happy Valentine's Day

Today is Cooper and Caleb's first Valentine's Day! They got their mommy Willowtree figurines that look just like them...

Cooper is the one chewing on his hand and Caleb would be the one playing with his feet. I got the boys a brand new stroller for Valentine's Day. I am sure they will enjoy it as much as I will. They haven't given Daddy their gift yet, so we can't ruin the surprise....but I am sure he will let ya'll know what he gets!!! Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

So in Love .....

Many of you may have been wondering what is going on in Cooper and Caleb's love life right now. If you recall, they met Ally and Molly and quickly fell for these two cuties. One of their first dates was a play date the week of Thanksgiving at the Seely House.

Well, things are still going strong. Their mom Emily hosted a play date at her house recently and the boys showed up (quite a bit late) with some yummy butter cake their daddy had made.

Things are still going strong! Everyone is getting so big and they are so fun to play with! Cooper had a costume change in the middle of the date due to an unfortunate accident involving poo, but Caleb had one as well moments later, so they were back to matching outfits once again!

The Super Bowl and the Ingenious Bill Belichick

So I was talking to Cooper and Caleb the other day and inevitably the conversation turned to football. That is actually a pretty standard occurrence with me and the boys. We don't waste much time on politics, celebrity gossip (they get enough of that from their mother) or the War in Iraq. If we aren't talking about the Aggies, hunting, fishing, baseball or golf, then we are talking football. As you all know, Tom Brady has been MIA from the media for the past week. I think the conversation started with me mentioning how big of a deal it would be if he couldn't play. That is when Caleb said, "Daddy, do you really think he is hurt?" Intrigued by the question, I asked him to elaborate further. He went on to explain that his theory was that Bill Belichick had Tom Brady go to New York for a few days and wear that boot just so it would take some of the attention away from the Perfect Season and Spygate.

If you think about this, it really would be ingenious if it were true. For the past week, the Patriots players have been hounded by the media for one reason and one reason alone, where it Tom Brady? While I am sure they are still answering questions about the Perfect Season and Spygate, it is definitely not the talk of the locker room and post practice press conferences.

I went on to discuss this further with the boys and this is what we came up with: Bill and Tom held a behind close doors, quarterback to coach meeting to derive their plan to deal with the media circus that is the Super Bowl. Tom mentioned that he could leak a rumor he knocked up another one of his girlfriends, but they decided that would only attract the likes of US Magazine and People. They needed something that would reel in the ESPN's, CBS Sports, etc. of the world. That is when they decided to "fake" Tom's high ankle sprain. They went even further to sell this by sending him to New York of all places with his girlfriend. The girlfriend part grabbed the attention of the mainstream media. He might as well have met up with Eli for drinks because by wearing this boot in NYC he was basically "peeing" in Eli's sandbox.

Again, I must point out the results of this little diversionary tactic. It has reached everyone in the world. Everyone including my twin, six month old boys!

So, hats off to you Mr. Belichick and Mr. Brady for a well thought out plan. The only thing left to do now is play the game. I know all of you want a prediction from the boys, so here it is:

Giants 30 - Patriots 28

Cooper didn't think the Pats would be able to stop the Giants run game, so look for big days from Jacobs and Bradshaw. Caleb is going to continue to ride the hot streak that Eli is on, saying that he and "Texaco" Burress are do for at least 2 big plays in the game.

What is there to do in January . . .

Ok, so it seems that Cooper and Caleb's fans just simply cannot get enough of their blog posts. While I don't think that this explanation will satisfy most of your cravings, but I am going to give it anyway. The reason the blog posts have been few and far between over the past few weeks is that there seriously is nothing to do in January. The weather sucks and everyone is so hung-over from the holidays that there are no big trips/plans/events/etc. to look forward too.

So what have Cooper and Caleb been doing for the past few weeks? The answer is simply . . .

TAKING PICTURES!!!!!!!

Their godmother, Kim (K-Ma), sent them these onesies in response to the "Famous People Who Wear Helmets" post. The note was really cool because Kim added the fact that Troy Aikman, Emmit Smith and other famous Cowboys wore helmets too.

These outfits came from their Godmothers, Kim (K-Ma) and Ashley (A-Ma). The weather has been such crap lately that they really came in handy the other day when we went to Bed, Bath and Beyond.

My big boys had to go to the stupid doctor on Wednesday and get their 6 months shots:( It was OK though because we got to put them in their jackets that have ears!

Hey, guess what everybody looks like at the end of the week. We didn't do the boys any favors by taking them to two doctors visits, but let's just say that everyone in the house is tired this week.

Quite a Following . . .

So apparently Cooper and Caleb are quite a bit more famous than I had envisioned because I have received multiple requests from not only our friends, but their friends as well to update the blog. First I do have to apologize for my lack of dedication to blogging. Our friends Molly and Ally informed me the other day that if I let the blog slip, that I would lose my following. Hopefully Cooper and Caleb's true fans will stick through the good times as well as the bad. My challenge to each of Cooper and Caleb's loyal fans would be to re-introduce those whose attention span might not be as long and forward the blog along. Also, I would like to get a special "shout-out" to all of Cooper and Caleb's South Texas College of Law fans because if they end up anything like their Uncle Mike or Daddy Matt, then it might not be a bad idea to have their legal team up to date on their day-to-day activities.

I thought long and hard about what the theme for today's blog would be and I have decided that it is only fitting to provide an update on the New Year's Resolutions. I know this seems pretty easy, but to be honest, there really hasn't been that much going on in the Seely household over the past few weeks. After the debacle that was traveling for the holidays, we have stuck pretty close to The Woodlands for the beginning of the year.

1. Sleeping Through the Night - Well, let's just say that this is still a work in progress. Actually, last night the boys made it from about 6:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. If this were a standard occurrence, I would be reporting how well rested Mommy and Daddy are now. However, let's just say that Mommy and Daddy could use a few more nights of that kind of sleep before we will report that we are caught up.

2. Crawling - Granddad came down this past weekend boasted that he would have them walking before he returned to Lufkin on Sunday, but alas his efforts were unsuccessful. You can, however, start to see the beginnings of the crawling process. Both Cooper and Caleb are much more comfortable on their tummies and can hold their head up for quite a long time. They also do that "swimming" motion which is basically all the movements they need to crawl, they are just not quite coordinated enough yet to do them in a crawling motion.

3. Walking - You have to crawl before you can walk!

4. Solid Foods - I am happy to report that the solid foods arena is where the boys have made the most progress. Instead of giving a dissertation of how much they enjoyed each of the different foods, I figure pictures are probably a better way of describing their reactions:

YAMS

BANANAS

Well that is all I have for now, but I promise to be more diligent in the blogging in the future. I mean, how can I disappoint all of Cooper and Caleb's fans!

2008 New Year's Resolutions

One of the things I wanted to use the blog for was to allow guest bloggers to post their experiences with Cooper and Caleb. What better way to start this tradition than by asking the subject matter experts on Cooper and Caleb's crazy adventures to post the first blog in 2008. So without further adieu, I give you Cooper and Caleb themselves . . .

Hi! Our names are Cooper and Caleb Seely. Our daddy asked us to sit down and write a quick blog post to all our fans out there because we know we have soooo many! We thought that the only appropriate topic for a New Year's Day post would be our New Year's resolutions for 2008. Along with our resolutions it only makes sense to include our plans to achieve them.

1. Sleep through the night - Mommy and Daddy have been telling us for a few weeks now how difficult on them it is when we wake up EVERY three hours to eat. So the obvious solution is for us to just roll back over and go back to sleep when we wake up at night. In order to help us stay full throughout the night, we asked Mommy and Daddy to start us on Rice Cereal yesterday. Last night went pretty good, but it is going to take a few weeks before we get enough in our bellies to make it all the way through.

2. Crawling - Our plan is to start crawling by March. That would make us 8 months old which is plenty old to become mobile.

3. Walking - Depending upon when we achieve #2 will determine when walking is going to happen.

4. Solid Foods - As we mentioned before, Rice Cereal is only the start. In the coming weeks, we plan to have Avocados, Bananas, Peas, plus a number of other healthy, nutritious options. Mommy is going to make all of our food from scratch so that we don't have any nasty preservatives. Daddy fully supports this decision for multiple reasons first of which is the added health factor of freshly prepared baby food from organically grown food. The added benefit for him is the cost savings of doing it ourselves.

These are just a few of our resolutions. Stay tuned for updates on the status of our resolutions as well as added resolutions!
