Here is this week's Pre-School Report and a quick movie of Cooper singing one of his Pre-school songs:

Cooper and Caleb had a fun day! They loved mixing and pouring the ingredients to make our dirt cups. They waited so patiently for their turn to pour and mix. It was too cute. In chapel, we read the story of Jesus and the Little Children and then had a fun scooter activity to help the children remember that Jesus wanted the children to come to Him and that He loves them very much. We also had motor movement and the boys loved bouncing the big smiley face balls on the parachute. When it was time for the kids to sit under the parachute, Caleb wanted to lay down. He would just giggle as the parachute went up and down.

During circle time, Cooper and Caleb loved singing and Cooper was really into answering all of my questions about colors, numbers, the book, etc. He was the first one to call out the answers each time. On the playground, the boys painted and played in the water tables and of course, rode in their favorite red car! They are so fun!

Pre-School Reports

The boys attend a local pre-school one day a week and after every school day we get a little "report" on how they did. Jennifer gets emails from multiple people each week asking for the school "report" so I thought I would start sharing them:

The fellas had a great day (as always!) They loved the new train table. Caleb stayed there pretty much all of center time, but Cooper played at the trains awhile, then made his way around the room to check out everything. Cooper was really interested in our cutting center. He loved using the scissors.

In chapel, we read the story of Paul and the big storm, then played with the big parachute to make our own big storm. Caleb and Cooper were giggle boxes when we had them run underneath -- too cute! We love their laughs.

We painted their feet for an upcoming project, so sorry if they still have some blue paint on their feet. We had them step in a bucket of water to rinse them, which they thought was hilarious! I am so happy to hear that they are singing the chapel songs -- I will try to get the name of the CD for you. They know all of the hand motions and love to sing along. See you next Wednesday!

Doctor's Visit

We have been experiencing some sleeping difficulties with Mr. Caleb over the past couple of weeks, so we were concerned that another dreaded ear infection was in our future. If you are a parent, you know the misery I am talking about so at the first sign of a problem you hit the doctor’s office for some pink medicine.

Our concern was enhanced because Caleb would tell us his ears hurt. I guess we are probably still a little too young to take a toddler’s word when it comes to a need for the doctor. Knowing Caleb, he probably realized he would get a sucker if he went to the doctor. You will be happy to know that after a $20 co-pay and 2 red suckers Caleb received a clean bill of health. Now we just need to know why he has been feeling the need to wake up at night!

Pre-Summer Fun Auditions

You wouldn’t think that when you have 3 year-olds your schedule would be as affected as it is by the school calendar. We have already started to see the shut-down that happens in the Woodlands for Summer Vacation. Jennifer’s work has already stopped their Tuesday bible studies and Thursday MOPS is a thing of the past as well.

What does this mean for us you might ask? Well, because apparently people who live in the Woodlands have a lot money, there aren’t as many options for entertainment because these wealthy families head off to their summer homes. Since our summer home is still in the “design” phase, we are stuck in the Woodlands with less to do. This means you need to be creative, but most of all BRAVE!

Jennifer decided that the first audition for new, fun activities would be the Houston Zoo. I don’t know if you know my children or have ever witnessed me trying to corral them in a public place, but this is no small feat! The current report has it going well. The train and carousel (plus a little popcorn) have kept them happy!

Update: As of 1 p.m. a trip to the petting zoo, a quick jaunt to the elephants and one last ride on the choo-choo seem to have been a big hit!

I am a Lucky Man!

Why am I a lucky man you might ask? Well, for the purposes of this blog we will stick to the obvious and discuss my loving, devoted wife and 2 beautiful children. That, in and of itself, is a reason to be thankful.

This story starts with the request every Mommy out there dreads. It is the last minute request for an evening event that is technically considered a "work" function. This means that saying no really isn't an option, but that still doesn't make it any more easy to handle your children for the evening. Now, I am not dumb enough to truly think that Happy Hour, Sporting Events or Christmas Parties really should be considered "work", but everyone knows the importance of attending this sort of stuff.

That means that Mommy, in her infinite glory, has to get creative in what she does with your children for the evening. Anything new and exciting is usually a good idea. Today's activity was a toy Roller Coaster at our friend Jack's house. You might remember Jack as the friend whose name we couldn't use for our Build a Bear Jack Russell Terrier that is now lovingly referred to as Russ.
Mommy, your are an amazing woman and I thank God everyday that you are in my life!

Also, today happens to be Jack's 2nd Birthday. Happy Birthday Jack! Cooper and Caleb had SO MUCH FUN playing with you this afternoon and look forward to many more birthday celebrations.

Spring Break!

Spring is here and let me tell you that the boys are officially ready to be OUTSIDE ALL THE TIME. I got up with the boys this morning and Caleb asked to eat his breakfast at the picnic table outside. That is perfectly fine with me because that means the kitchen doesn't get dirty.

Spring Break started with a bang for the Seely Family. Gran, Granddad and Aunt Marchia came down for the second annual work weekend. It was long, tiring and expensive, but we got a lot done. The house has never been cleaner and Daddy got to hang peg board in the garage, install a new shelving unit, and install some landscape lighting. Mommy and Marchia recovered the dining room chairs and got the design together a new window valance in our kitchen. Gran and Granddad supporting these endeavors by watching the boys for most of the weekend. It honestly took 5 adults 2 days to get all this done.

Jennifer celebrated Spring Break by going to Lufkin with the boys and left Daddy to hang out with Uncle Mike for a couple of days. I am glad to report that everyone made it through the week no worse for the wear.

If you were wondering what park the boys went to in Lufkin you would be mistaken. Mema decided it would be a good idea to buy one of those massive swing sets you see outside Academy and wonder who buys these gigantic structures.

This meant that the entire trip in Lufkin was spent at Memas climbing up and sliding down. I bet the boys thought it was the neatest thing in the whole world. They are so completely spoiled when they go to Lufkin we are going to have a time getting back into the swing of things now that the holiday is over.

If they went up 1 time, they went up 1,000 times. They are SO LUCKY to have such a sweet Mema that is willing to do this kind of stuff for them!

I really don't have a clue what is going on in this picture or why there are plastic eggs hanging from the tree, but I thought it looked very telling of how the week went in Lufkin.

Caleb is confused too!

Can I touch it?

Of course there were plenty of bubbles! Funny side note, Caleb thinks it is somehow going to somehow adversely affect me when he pours his bubbles out. If he has bubbles and you tell him he can't do something like take his bubbles inside, then he just pours them out to get back at me. Hey Caleb, now you don't have any bubbles!

The last surprise of the week was Amy and her boys, Jacob and Joshua, came up from Houston to go to the Lufkin Zoo. Those of you who braved the Houston Zoo this week understand why Amy drove 2 hours to Lufkin for a zoo. Those of you who didn't, have fun at the Houston Zoo with the rest of the 3 million people who live here.

Daddy's Hats

Cooper, what is the deal with this pose?

I just had to share these pictures! The funny thing is that they normally will not let you anywhere near their heads with a hat, but on this day Caleb wanted to wear "Da Da's Hat!"
